In 1754 Josiah Wedgwood began to experiment with coloured creamware. He established his own factory, but often worked with others who did transfer printing. The Wedgwood company went on to produce pottery and dinnerware in many different and popular patterns.
The Company also produced a host of commemorative pieces. This Commemorative Plate was selected and distributed under the auspices of The Most Reverend Richard Cushing, Archbishop of Boston. The Barberini Palace was the private residence of Urban VIII in Rome. This unique Wedgwood plate is marked WEDGWOOOD OF ETRURIA & BARLASTON MADE IN ENGLAND and in MINT condition, with no chips, cracks, or restorations.
